My 55-year-old brother is down and out and struggling. He's educated, artistic, and a good guy who needs a change of scenery. Marfa is the place. His three sisters are wanting to help him find a garage apartment or run-down house or a shack in the back where he can recuperate and then thrive. We miss our sweet and funny brother and want him back. He can work for part of his rent. He has a small dog. He will probably not have a car. He loves Marfa and the atmosphere and needs to be where he doesn't rely on us. Don't worry--we have a backup plan here in Austin in case nothing in Marfa materializes. He worked in the UT Art Department for many years as an academic advisor in that department. He has a degree in Art History and a Masters in Graphic Design. He resigned from UT in 2012 and has floated since with odd jobs in restaurants and nonprofits. From 2016-2018, he was caregiver to our mother.
Yep, this is overshare probably, but I am a former debate coach who is trying to be persuasive. Shane. His name is Shane, just like the Gary Cooper movie. "Come Back, Shane" is more than a movie line to us.
Thanks and carry on out West. Say hello to my favorite bootmaker and former student at Cobra Rock.
