Candlelight Vigil for George Floyd Sunday, May 31st, 8pm, Presidio County Courthouse Lawn
Please join your fellow citizens of Marfa in a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of George Floyd, one of three African American citizens killed by law enforcement or racist civilians in the past months. Tomorrow, Sunday, May 31st, 8pm, Presidio County Courthouse Lawn. The other two high-profile African American individuals who will be honored at the event are Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
No one in the United States should fear for their lives when interacting with law enforcement. We call on the appropriate agencies to arrest and charge the officers who stood by and watched as Officer Derek Chauvin killled George Floyd. We ask that Americans not sit idly by again while another young man is killed by those who swore an oath to protect and serve us. Let’s stand up for justice. Let’s stand up for equality. Let’s stand up for the persecuted. #justiceforfloyd”.
Please bring your own candle or candles to share with others. Practice social distancing and wear a mask. We encourage all members of the public to show their grief peacefully. We will listen to a speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. during the vigil.
Silence is Compliance.
Share with your friends and neighbors.
