Please join us for a performance on Thursday, June 6 at 11 AM at the Marfa High School Auditorium (J.E. Gregg) to support our young aspiring actors!
This week, and for the seventh year in a row, Marfa Live Arts is participating in Marfa ISD’s Camp Summer Shake-Up. Leading the four-day workshop is actor, artist, and educator Rae Anna Hample. Hample is leading 3rd through 8th grade students through a series of theater and live performance exercises focused around developing stage presence, understanding/developing performance storytelling, and improvised acting techniques. A culminating performance will be presented to the public on Thursday, June 6 at 11am, at the J.E. Gregg Auditorium at Marfa High School.
The goal is for students to develop a personal story to present in a final performance and to develop acting and improvisational skills which will increase students’ self-confidence, build critical thinking pathways and improve communication skills. Each camper will bring an object that has significance in their lives and preform a story based on this object.
Marfa Live Arts’ Theater camp is free to the school and students with support from the Marfa Education Foundation.
