I am looking to see and play as many pianos as possible in Marfa in the next week. I would be very honored to meet you, see your piano and hear as much about its story as you know. I am interested in all pianos no matter the condition.
It would be for a sound project. I just wrote a masters thesis on the piano and this project, which is part of a two-week residency in Marfa, comes from my reflections in this research. I am interested in a topology of lost or potential sounds and mapping resonant bodies within a given space. I am also very happy to discuss at much greater length the theoretical background which has to do with a critical rethinking of the piano as a technological, social and cultural object that was profoundly influenced by the industrial revolution, the introduction of mechanized labor and the rise of a capitalist society.
Like I said I am very happy to discuss my work or to listen.
