The Tierra Grande Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists is accepting applications for the class of 2019!
TMN teaches adults about the natural resources of Texas and inspires an appreciation of the natural environment. The program features in-depth training in wildlife and natural resource management. It is taught by recognized experts in the fields and is customized to focus on the native ecosystems of the region. Accepted applicants will attend weekend trainings in some of the Big Bend's most beautiful and remote regions.
The cost is $250.00 and includes meal and lodging in most venues. Trainings for class of 2019 will take place at the Nature Conservancy Center Ft. Davis, Ft. Davis State Park, Balmorhea State Park, Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Class size is very limited, and trainees will get to learn, hike, and explore the area with experts in various naturalist fields.
Through a targeted volunteer network, TMN ensures that others will be able to enjoy natural Texas for years to come. Trainees will participate in volunteer opportunities of their choice, and can assist with everything from trail maintenance, guided hikes, helping at the observatory, gardening, and many other activities.
