Organizations interested in applying for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grants in 2018-19:
Mayor Nafziger will host a public workshop to introduce the new application process and answer questions on Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 pm in the Casner Room at City Hall.
Everyone is welcome.
The City of Marfa awards grants for qualifying events and activities through the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) fund. These funds are restricted by state law and must be used to directly promote tourism and the hotel and convention industry in Marfa. The City is pleased to offer partnership grants in three categories: Arts & Culture, Historic Preservation & Restoration, and Advertising Reimbursement.
In late May City Council decided to improve this grant opportunity by setting an annual schedule for submission deadlines and release of funds. Council further resolved to appoint a HOT Grant Fund Committee to review and recommend awards.
Grants for Arts & Culture and for Historic Preservation will be reviewed and awarded twice annually. Advertising reimbursement grants will be reviewed and awarded quarterly.
