Marfa Maid Dairy in Marfa, Texas is looking to find an intern to spend up to 1 year working in our cheese kitchen and learning how to make cheese in a small production goat milk dairy.
The position will require the intern to work between 30-40 hours a week in our kitchen producing small batches of artisan goat cheese. We make several varieties of chevre, yogurt, feta and a selection of aged cheeses. The internship will be involved in all processes from pasteurization, processing to aging and packaging.
A good candidate will have a strong interest in cheese making, experience in food production is a plus. The processes depend on someone who is able to help maintain a clean and orderly environment. Listening and following instructions are important traits. The processes in making cheese are repetitive but the result is rewarding.
The internship will begin as early as March and run through the 2018 season. We are not able to supply housing but will pay an hourly wage (starting at $12 hour) based on experience and skills.
