Many of us take for granted having multiple devices – cell phone, tablet, laptop – in our pocket, purse, office, car, and home. By 2020, over 70 percent of jobs will require technology education and experience. But a large number of Marfa students don't have ready access to computers, digital devices, and internet in their homes.
That's why, since 2011, Marfa ISD has prioritized putting current technology in students' hands in order to provide for students' digital learning needs at school.
While larger, wealthier districts can afford to put the latest technology in classrooms and give each student their own computer, Marfa ISD struggles to have enough devices for students to share. Many kids are using ipads and Chromebooks at school that are four to six-years-old, devices than can no longer be updated to handle new classroom software and apps.
That's why we're raising money through an on-line fundraiser this holiday season to replace those outdated devices. Will you help us give kids the chance to learn how to use technology successfully and safely with an end-of-year, tax-deductible donation to Marfa ISD?
Please donate, in any amount, to our "Tech the Halls" fundraiser and help us close Marfa's digital divide. Every contribution will make a difference and every dollar will go toward our technology fund.
Thank you, Marfa, for your ongoing support of our school, and happy holidays from Marfa ISD!
