The City of Marfa, Texas seeks an Interim Administrator to begin October 1, 2017. This is a salaried, six-month position reporting to the Mayor and City Council.
The two primary objectives of the position are to 1) provide interim leadership, direction, and management of the city while 2) assisting city council in the search and eventual hiring of a City Administrator by Spring, 2018.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in Public Administration or the equivalent experience. S/he will have a strong knowledge of economic and community development, municipal operations, and short and long-term planning initiatives, as well as a deep commitment to public service. S/he will work with council and the community in a positive, open, and transparent manner; possess strong managerial skills; and have experience in city planning, finance, and municipal budgets.
