i have this but my account is with Mountain Zone in Alpine. 432-837-2300. Ask for Lawrence. The installers are good, but the office staff never knows where they are or what their schedule is. Only Lawrence has this info.
It cost about $100 for the installation and the monthly 3gig internet service is about $55 per month. It's never been off-line. The radio receiver is about 16" in diameter. You can purchase a wifi modem from them or get one yourself at the hardware store in Alpine for $40. It's a netgear modem and the setup takes about 5 minutes. I watch Netflix and surf the web with no problems. No buffering, no lags, or delays - nothing.
You can pay in person at their office in Marfa - it's next to the coffee roaster and only open in the afternoon on Friday, or send a check once a month, or get autopay with a credit/debit card.
Depending on where you live in town, there are other options. If you live close to the center of town ATT is everyone's last choice because their customer service is awful. Don't get me started... There's a fiber optic option but I live too far from it so never got any info. If you go with cable (Mt Zone offers this too) let me know. I have an extra cable modem you can have for free. PM me.
For the radio transmitter you need a direct, line of sight access from outside your home. At first I put it in the window to keep it out of sight. When I closed the window the signal cut off. The install team will come by in advance to check on the location.
UPDATE: I recently upgraded from 3mbs ($54/mo) to 12mbs ($81/mo). The 3mbs service did not provide enough bandwidth for my phone and laptop. Plus, even though these companies advertise 3mbs and 12mbs, the signals are shared so what you are getting depends on how many others are sharing the signal. To check you home wifi signal, go to www.speedtest.net Typically a 3mbs service gives you 2.5 and a 12mbs service gives you 8.5-11.0
There is a phone version of this app to test signal strength. Likewise SpeedSmart.
They were able to activate the upgrade with just a phone call.
